A 29-year-old Tsuu T’ina woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a toddler who sustained injuries while in her care.
RCMP say the two-year-old boy was taken to a Calgary hospital on Sept. 18, 2014, and died seven days later.
Investigators received autopsy results in April, and made an arrest on July 31.
The accused woman, whose name has not been released at this time, was remanded into custody and is expected to appear in a Calgary courtroom this morning.
Cpl. Sharon Franks, RCMP spokeswoman, would not elaborate on the relationship between the woman and the boy, except that the person charged “had exclusive access to the child.”
Franks also declined to comment on the kind of injuries the child sustained.
No one else is expected to be charged in connection with this case.
