Three people were rushed to hospital after a SUV crashed into several horses west of Cochrane late Friday.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
Mounties and paramedics were called around 11 p.m. to Highway 1A about two kilometres west of the Ghost River Dam to respond to a crash involving livestock.
When they arrived, they found a man in his late 20s in the front passenger seat in serious but stable, non-life threatening condition, and a woman in her mid-30s in the back seat in stable condition, according to EMS.
RCMP say the female driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Despite the vehicle sustaining significant damage, none of the three occupants had to be extricated. All three were taken to Foothills Hospital.
It’s not known how the horses fared.
Highway 1A is closed in both directions as RCMP probe the scene.
