A bike trail near the Tunnel Mountain trailer court in Banff National Park is closed because there is a cougar feeding on a kill.
On Monday, wildlife officials closed the Spine Mountain bike trail between the campground water tower and Tunnel Mountain Village 1. The area will be closed until further notice.
It’s the third cougar warning within the mountain national parks in the past few weeks.
Another one in Banff National Park last month led to a young cougar being euthanized because it was in poor health.

The fine for entering a closed area carries a maximum penalty of $25,000.
If you happen to see a cougar, do not approach it. Face it and back away slowly, trying to look bigger by holding your hands over your head.
It’s also recommended to act aggressively by shouting, waving a stick or throwing rocks to deter an attack.
