Three people — including a three-year-old — escaped major injury after a crash on Memorial Drive N.E. that toppled an SUV Sunday morning.
Paramedics were called to the eastbound lanes of Memorial Drive at an intersection overtop of Deerfoot Trail, at about 10:15 a.m.
A minivan and SUV collided, forcing the SUV to tip over and slide into the southbound exit ramp, eventually coming to rest on the passenger side.
The van’s front end was badly damaged in the crash. The driver and sole occupant of the van, a woman in her early 60s, was transported to hospital with minor soft-tissue injuries.
A woman in her 20s, who was behind the wheel of the SUV, was not injured, nor was a three-year-old passenger. According to EMS, the child escaped injury in large part because she was sitting in a securely installed carseat.
