Two motorcyclists were transported to hospital, one airlifted with serious injuries, after crashing Friday evening west of Calgary.
Cochrane RCMP were called around 5:35 p.m. to respond to the crash on Highway 1A about 10 kilometres west of Morley Road.
It’s believed the two bikes were travelling together when one of the vehicles lost control, went off the road, and ejected the driver.
When the second motorcyclist saw what happened, he hit his brakes and lost control, hitting a guardrail. The 40-year-old was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to Foothills Hospital with serious injuries.
The first driver was taken to hospital by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
Roads were temporarily closed as police investigated. It’s unclear whether charges will be laid.
Meanwhile, Calgary police are looking into a Friday evening crash that sent a female pedestrian to hospital with multiple serious injuries.
The woman in her 30s was struck at 4th Avenue and 3rd Street S.E. around 8:30 p.m., and taken to hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition said EMS spokesman Adam Loria.
The vehicle stayed at the scene, said Det. Duane Lepchuk. He said it’s not known whether charges will be laid as the investigation continues.
