A man in his 40s is in hospital in stable condition after a home invasion in the city’s southeast Saturday night.
Police say a man armed with a handgun entered a home in the 0-100 block of Fonda Mews S.E. at about 11 p.m. and confronted two men and a woman who were inside the residence.
The suspect stole personal property and attempted to flee but was confronted by one of the men, who was shot during a struggle that ensued, according to CPS.
“During the robbery the handgun was discharged and a male resident was struck but received non-life-threatening gunshot wounds,” Det. Andy Nguyen said.
Nguyen said police believe the robbery is a targeted attack and not a random incident.
Police are asking for public assistance in finding the suspect. He is described as a darker-skinned man with a thin moustache, 5’7″ tall, about 140 pounds and between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing a grey baseball hat, grey hoodie and sweatpants.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the CPS non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
Officers with the Calgary police robbery unit continue to investigate.
