Tacos, sangria, and Latin music: Fiestaval has returned to Calgary for its 10th year, and the party is going strong at Olympic Plaza this weekend.
Fiestaval is a celebration of Latin cultures and communities, which takes place on the week after the Calgary Stampede.
From Friday to Sunday, the festival features a line up of international and local musicians, street vendors, and a wide array of South American food that ranges from Nicaraguan and El Salvadorian, to Chilean and Mexican.
“It’s an opportunity for Canadians of non-Latino descent to come and experience things they would never get to experience unless they travelled the world,” said Jennifer Rempel, a Fiestaval spokesperson.

Moreover, it’s an opportunity for Latino Canadians to celebrate their own culture, she said.
“This is a place where Latino’s themselves can come back and feel where they came from and teach their children about the cultures they grew up in.”
Fiestaval is one of two Latino-themed festivals that take place in the summer. Expo Latino will be taking place from August 5th to August 7th at Prince’s Island Park.
