Following the serious injury of a suspect, several Calgary cops are now being investigated by the province’s police watchdog.
No charges have been laid at this time but two of the officers involved have been relieved of duty and two more have been reassigned to desk jobs.
ASIRT has been called in after a July 30 incident which saw a traffic stop go sideways.
About 8:45 p.m. one officer drove after a vehicle into a parking lot in the 6700 block of Macleod Tr. S., where the driver of the suspect vehicle is alleged to have got out and fled on foot.
The officer gave chase, and was joined by several other officers in the search for the suspect.
In the time since the incident occurred, concerns of officer conduct were raised based on footage from one of the officers’ in-car camera.
Police say the suspect received several serious injuries during the ensuing arrest.
More to come…
