City police have charged a man in connection with a number of apartment storage locker break-and-enters and with an ensuing armed standoff with officers.
Police say on Aug. 8, a man got into a building in the 1100 block of 6th Avenue S.W. and was able to get past the building’s entry security system.
Investigators were able to identify a person of interest after reviewing CCTV footage, and matched him to four other incidents in which a similar mode of entry was used.
Officers tracked down the man on Aug. 26 as he got close to a residence where he was banned from entering.
When officers approached him, he took out a knife. Following an armed standoff, police managed to take the man into custody without incident.
Jesse Lawrence Dubruiel, 35, of Calgary, was charged with two counts of break and enter with intent, two counts of break and enter to commit an offence, three counts of assaulting a peace officer, two breaches of a recognizance, and four criminal code warrants.
Dubruiel is expected to appear in court on Friday.
Further charges are pending.
