Mounties are investigating after a body was found in a burned out vehicle northeast of Calgary early Friday, and are treating the death as a homicide.
Officers fire crews were called to a rural area near Airdrie around 7 a.m. to respond to a vehicle fire, and found a body inside.
Police soon cordoned off the intersection of Township Road 280 and Range Road 283 for the investigation.
“No other descriptors are available of the person at this time, but the major crimes investigators in charge of the case now believe this person is the victim of a homicide,” RCMP said in a news release.
No name, age, or cause of death has been released pending an autopsy scheduled for early next week.
