A woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after firefighters pulled her from a smoke-filled apartment suite in northwest Calgary on Wednesday afternoon.
Fire crews responded to an apartment building on 42nd Street N.W., just east of Market Mall across Shaganappi Trail, at around 2:45 p.m. for reports of a building fire. They found the unconscious woman in the apartment where the fire had started and removed her from the building.
EMS transported the woman to hospital in life-threatening condition with serious burns and possible smoke inhalation.
It’s unclear what caused the fire, but spokesperson Carol Henke said it was contained to the suite of origin.
