Calgary fire crews rescue driver after crash on N.W. bridge

Calgary fire crews rescued a driver following a single vehicle collision on Symons Valley Parkway Saturday night.

According to the fire department, just before 11 p.m. a four-door sedan lost control and left the roadway, coming to rest in a hanging position from the bridge decking.

Firefighters secured the car using chains and removed the doors to extricate the driver from the car.

The patient was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. The incident is still under investigation.

Firefighters also extricated a patient at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday who was trapped under the front section of a CTrain at the Westwinds Drive N.E. station.

The patient was transported to hospital in critical condition.
